FAQs

We are constantly sourcing doors, and they come from many sources. Our customers are one of our greatest sources, followed by Auction sites, Antique Dealers, and local Construction Junction, and Craigslist.

Yes, we can. We are often asked to make boxes or banks from doors that our customers already own. The price depends on the type of door and wood selection. Give us a call or send us an email with a front and back picture of your door. They take about 3–4 weeks to complete.

We use a reference book called: Post Office Lockbox Doors, Illustrated Guide. The author, Jane H. Ingram, is an expert when it comes to Post Office Box Doors. We talk with Jane a few times each year when we have any questions.

Most of our wood is sourced locally, and we only use Native American Woods. We strive for re-purposed wood or wood that has character and may not be considered "first quality." Craigslist is a good source as well as Construction Junction in Pittsburgh. We also visit Estate Sales and have been known to dumpster dive on occasion.

Yes and no! If your bank has two dials, we can change most of them within the letters on the dial. If your bank has one dial, we can change the combination, but only to a new "random" combination, not a specific set of numbers or letters.

While we often have over 100 Banks in stock, we don't track individual numbers. We can, however, number any Bank you want with up to 4 digits using official Gold with Red highlight, USPS "new old stock" numbers. Just let us know at the time of purchase what number you want. If your Bank has a "number Plate" in the window, we can print any number you want, or even a 2-line text/number message like a birthday or anniversary.

If you purchased your bank from us, there is a 3-to-5-digit number on the bottom or back of your bank. Email us asking for your combination and provide your specific stock number. If you did not purchase your bank from us, there is really no easy way to get it open without the combination.
